Privacy Policy — MinistryAlign

MinistryAlign is operated by Otech Labs LLC ("we," "us"), 33 W Palmer St, Danielson, CT 06239, United States. Contact: contact@otechlabs.io.
1. What we collect
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored as a secure hash)
- Profile information you choose to provide: church affiliation, ministry interests and passions
- Assessment responses: your answers and results from spiritual gifts assessments and DISC personality profiles
- Journal and reflection entries you create in the app
- Usage data: device type, app interactions, and diagnostic logs
- Payment information: processed by our payment provider Paddle; we never see or store full card numbers
1a. Religious-belief data (sensitive / special category)
MinistryAlign helps people find their place in church ministry, so some of what you choose to share with us reveals your religious beliefs. We treat the following as information about your religious beliefs — a sensitive (special category) of personal data under laws like the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA:
- Your spiritual gifts assessment answers and results
- Your ministry passions, faith/ministry profile, and church affiliation
- Private journal, reflection, and prayer entries you write inside the app
We collect this data only because you choose to take an assessment, fill in your profile, or write in your journal — none of it is required to create an account. We use it solely to power the app's functionality (generating your assessment results, matching members to ministry roles, and your personal My Walk features). We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or disclose it to any third party for their own purposes. You can delete this data at any time by deleting your account from the in-app account settings, which removes your personal data within 30 days (except where law requires retention).
2. How we use it
- To provide the service: generating your assessment results, building your serving profile, and powering church team-matching features
- To connect you with a church organization, only when you join that church's MinistryAlign workspace
- To improve the product and fix problems
- To send service emails (account, security, billing). Marketing emails only with your consent, with unsubscribe in every message.
3. Who can see your information
- You control your profile. If you join a church's workspace, that church's designated leaders can see your name, gifts, DISC profile, and serving interests — that visibility is the core of the product, and you choose whether to join.
- Your private journal and reflection entries are never visible to your church, its leaders, or anyone else. They are yours alone.
- We never sell personal data. We never share it with advertisers.
- Service providers who help us run MinistryAlign (hosting, payments, email delivery) process data under contracts limiting use to our instructions.
4. Where data lives and how it's protected
Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Access is limited to what's needed to operate the service.
5. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct, or export your data from your account settings
- Delete your account at any time from settings, or by emailing contact@otechlabs.io — deletion removes your personal data within 30 days except where law requires retention
- Leave a church workspace at any time, which removes leader visibility into your profile
- Depending on where you live (e.g., EU/UK, California), you may have additional legal rights; contact us to exercise them
6. Children
MinistryAlign is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Church youth-ministry use for minors 13–17 requires the involvement of the church and parent/guardian consent where applicable.
7. Changes
We'll post changes here and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email.
